Panoramic Views of Santorini in high resolution

Santorini is rightly famed as having some of the best views in the world

The Caldera

fira panorama

Panoramic view of the Caldera with the whitewashed houses of Fira clinging to the top of the cliffs on the left. The top of the cable-car to the old port is just visible on the lower right of this panorama.

Caldera with cruise liners anchored

Composite view of Fira and Firastefani showing the Caldera with cruise liners anchored. Tenders bustle back and forth carrying passengers to the island. Cruise liners arrive nearly every day during the summer months and the quiet of the island is often interupted as busloads of day-trippers flock into Fira and Oia for a few hours.

The Caldera from the South

Caldera from south

From left to right you can see the rocky islet of Aspro, Thirasia, the uninhabited volcanic islands Nea Kameni and Palea Kameni and behind them across the Caldera and in the centre of the picture, you can see the white buildings of Oia.

Sanorini Caldera

If you wander away from the Caldera, there are some other great spots where you can see over the whole island as well as across to the neighbouring Cyclades islands of Folegandros, Sikinos, Ios and Anafi

Panorama of Santorini Island from its highest point

View from the top of Profiti Illia looking north over the island towards Pyrgos and Fira. From left to right, you can see the uninhabited volcanic islands Nea Kameni and Palea Kameni and behind them across the Caldera, you can see Thirasia. On the far left is the wall of the ancient monastery which has a chapel and shady gardens open to the public.

To the right of this the white clifftop houses of Oia are visible with Fira and Pyrgos closer to the camera. The runway of Santorini airport can be seen over towards the east and Profiti Illia and nearby ancient Thira provide an interesting vantage point as you can watch aircraft flying in below you to land!
